People say adding sand to the mix increases strength, is this true?

Sand has a very high surface area which all needs to be coated in resin.

Many resin driveways use a mix of aggregates that range from 1-6mm. In these mixes the smaller 1-3mm aggregate replaces the job that the sand does.

In larger aggregates 6-10mm sand can add strength but these aggregates are usually used for foot traffic meaning he resin without sand will provide more than enough strength.

Some suppliers say I need a primer is this true?

No. 2050Resin UVR does not require a primer. Adding a primer between the resin coat and the surface means that the contact strength is determined by the primer strength. The adhesiveness of the resin to the base is much stronger than a primer.
